Authorities seek public's help

Local law enforcement officials are asking for the public's help in finding who is responsible for breaking into a business on U.S. 72 near the U.S. 43 intersection.

Tuscumbia police investigator Sgt. Stuart Setliff said the break-in occurred around 1 a.m. July 13.

Taken were several rifles and pistols, along with gun grips, a scope, laser sights and scope mounts.

Reports indicate the burglar broke into a side door to gain access to the inside of the building.

Setliff said authorities believe someone may have driven by and seen something during the time of the burglary.

COLLINWOOD, TENN.

Children injured in accident

A 16-month-old boy and his older brother remain hospitalized after they were injured in an accident Sunday, authorities said.

Officials with the Collinwood Police Department said Garen Allen, and his brother, 4-year-old Garrett, were injured in a one-car accident that happened just after 11 a.m. Sunday.

Garen Allen was transported to Vanderbilt Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Garrett Allen was air lifted to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence and later transported to Children's Hospital, Birmingham. Hospital officials said he was in critical condition in the facility's intensive care unit.

Police said the two children were in the back seat of a Ford Taurus that was being driven by their mother, 30-year-old Angelia Allen, who was taken to Wayne County Medical Center in Waynesboro where she was treated and released.

Officials said Angelia Allen was traveling south on Tennessee 13 when she lost control of her car, ran off the roadway and struck a utility pole. The impact broke the pole in half.

The accident remains under investigation by the Collinwood Police Department.
