Phenix City advances into the semifinals

SHEFFIELD - Christian Wiggs hit two homers and drove in five runs to lead Phenix City to a 9-4 victory over Jackson in the Little League (11-12) state tournament Wednesday.
Wiggs blasted a three-run home run in the first, and - with Phenix City trailing 4-3 in the third - he hit a two-run shot.
Trevor Davis and Tyler Lynn each had two singles for Phenix City, which advances to play Andalusia in the semifinals today at 6 p.m.
Tanner Thomason pitched four scoreless innings in relief to get the win.
Jackson, led by Daniel Smith's solo home run in the first, was eliminated. Caleb Anderson added two hits for Anderson.
Dixie Youth Major League (11-12)
Hatton 9, Glencoe 0: James Parker hit a three-run homer in the first inning to spark Hatton to an easy victory in the state tournament in Anniston.
Reed Gillespie and Trey Hallmark each had two singles. Winning pitcher Taylor Latham, Kamron Potter and Kelby Hallmark combined on a one-hitter.
Hatton was scheduled to play again Wednesday night, but inclement weather postponed its game against Greenville until today at
10 a.m.
Dothan American (Blue) 7, Underwood 4: Dothan American jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the second inning and held on to eliminate Underwood in the state tournament.
Underwood, which finished fourth in the state, scored three runs in the fourth inning.
