LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. — Working with authorities in Jackson County, investigators have arrested 10 people involved in an effort to smuggle drugs into the Lawrence County Jail, officials said.

Lt. Nathan Neese, an investigator with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s office, said the group was primarily shipping in prescription narcotics, but one person did try to smuggle in meth.

Officials said the charges included introduction of contraband into a penal institution and criminal conspiracy.

The 10 suspects are being held in the Lawrence County Jail.
