LEIGHTON — Police have arrested two teens in connection with the assault of a 17-year-old Colbert County High School student.
The suspects, whose names are being withheld because of their juvenile status, have been charged with second-degree assault, a Class B felony. The boys are both 17. They have been released from jail with bail set at $15,000.
Assistant Police Chief Brandon Hood said the attack reportedly took place downtown on Oct. 22.
The victim was struck several times in the head with a weapon and suffered a concussion, fractured skull and laceration to his ear, Hood said. The boy spent three days receiving treatment in Helen Keller Hospital.
Hood said the victim knew the two teens arrested.
