Alan R. Ayers, Florence, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Central High School, he is a member of National Honor Society, Top 10 and several honor bands. He received top average award in Spanish I and IPS, superior ratings and best-in-class marching band and was a Boys State and Congressional Youth Leadership Council nominee. He is a member of Scholar Bowl team, Key and science clubs and Students Against Destructive Decisions and is marching band captain and concert band section leader. He is the son of Lawrence and Shani Ayers.
Jeffrey Hunter Putman, Lexington, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Lexington High School, he is a member of National Honor Society, National Society of High School Scholars, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, President’s Education Awards Program and homecoming court. He is a National Young Leaders Conference and People to People Ambassador nominee and a member of Future Business Leaders of America, First Priority, student council and Mu Alpha Theta. He is the son of Jeff and Anna Putman.
Maggie Kathryn Coan, Russellville, received a leadership scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Russellville High School, she was 2013 Franklin County Distinguished Young Woman, 2012 Girls State delegate and homecoming court representative. She was president of the student council and Mu Alpha Theta math honor society and secretary of the student booster club. She was a member of National Honor Society, annual and newspaper staffs, Future Business Leaders of America, chemistry club and the Marching 100. She is the daughter of Cindy Smith Coan.
Lauren Brooke Craig, Killen, received a leadership, R. Isbell, Chemistry and Industrial Hygiene, Southeastern Credit Union Foundation and Pride scholarships from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Brooks High School, she ranked fifth in class, was elected senior class parliamentarian and to the homecoming and prom courts and was named Most Considerate. She is a member of Who’s Who and National Spanish and National honor societies and the National Society of High School Scholars. She received numerous awards including American history, Florence Rotary Club Award, top five in job interview with Future Business Leaders of America state competition, President’s Education and Outstanding Academic Excellence. She was a member of drama, foreign language, sicence and Key clubs, Future Business Leaders of America and yearbook staff. She was an Early Scholar at UNA, attended International Key Club convention, paged for the House of Representatives and was active in community organizations. She is the daughter of Melinda Williams and Rickey Craig.
Hannah Marie Putnam, Florence, received a leadership scholarship from the University of North Alabama. She is the daughter of Greg and Christy Putnam.

She is Key Club president and Skills USA secretary. She is the daughter of Cynthia Forester.
Andrew Pyle, Rogersville, competed with Harding’s Academy Quiz Bowl Team at the National Academic Quiz Tournament on Feb. 9 at Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo., where they placed third. The team will advance in the Academic Competition Federation sectionals at Washington University, St. Louis, Mo. He is a sophomore majoring in chemistry.
n Fred Abernathy, a native of Tuscumbia, received a doctor of education degree with a concentration in executive leadership from Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, Tenn., on Dec. 15. He is employed by Decatur school system and Athens State University.
