Clockwise from left, Felicia Roberts, Austin Killen, Lexie Stevens and Matthew Cooper compete in the team round of the MathCounts competition. They attend to Wilson School.

Muscle Shoals Middle School earned the highest team ranking in Saturday's MathCounts contest at the University of North Alabama.

Individuals received trophies based on their performance in the written rounds. The top ranked "mathletes" were: Quinterious Hall (first), Joshua McIlroy (second), Noah Jordan of Muscle Shoals (third), and Autumn Smith of Moulton (fourth).

Hall also earned a $25 cash award as he captured 1st-place ranking in the Countdown Round, a separate competition where the top contenders from the written rounds competed one-on-one in problem-solving challenges.

Moulton Middle School also received team trophies for their second place finish, as well as earning a trophy as the best new school.

The Muscle Shoals mathletes' first-place team finish earned a $100 contribution for their school's Math Department.
