American Indian month proclaimed

FLORENCE — Mayor Mickey Haddock has proclaimed November as American Indian Heritage Month.

Haddock made the proclamation during a meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution last week.

In 1990, President George H.W. Bush approved a joint resolution designating November 1990 a National American Indian Heritage Month. Similar proclamations, under several names, including Native American Heritage Month and National American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month, have been issued each year since 1994, according to information from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, U.S. Department of the Interior.
