Attack on good people

I am appalled at an advertisement in the football programs of several Shoals area high schools. The ad is paid for by a local Republican leader. The content of the ad is nothing less than an attack on the good people of Colbert County who have chosen for 138 years to elect Democrats who believe in providing opportunities for families, protecting seniors and pursuing the American dream.

Among the most disturbing charges in the ad is that Democratic rule in Colbert has resulted in “low performing schools.” The truth is Democrats have stood up for education against relentless Republican attacks for years. If not for Democrats, Republicans would take every opportunity to divert money away from public schools.

Our children and teachers deserve more. It’s a shame that tis Republican leader believes Colbert County, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield and Tuscumbia schools are “low performing” because the Democrats certainly do not. Our party believes in and supports our local schools.

I truly believe that the Shoals continues to be a great place to live, work and visit. This is largely due to the fine leadership provided for 138 years by our Democratic officials who are our friends and neighbors. I ask voters not to be fooled by the extreme rhetoric offered by local GOP candidates.

Get to know your Democratic leaders. They stand ready to continue the good fight for your family.
