Maxwell Russell

Maxwell Russell is the host for the Songwriters Showcase 6-10 tonight at Frank’s Italian Restaurant, 500 N. Montgomery Ave., Sheffield. Songwriters include Jim Parker and Larry Vial. Russell and the Shakedown Kings perform Saturday at Champy’s Famous Fried Chicken, 120 Second St., Muscle Shoals.

Performers tonight at Swamper’s inside the Marriott Shoals Hotel and Spa, Florence, include Hope Stamps and Jake Wilkinson, 5-7 p.m., and Mitch Mann in an acoustic jam, 8-11 p.m. Performers Friday include Tim Cannon, 5-7 p.m., and Luke Dunkin, 9 p.m. to midnight.

Travis Wammack and Band will be at Wayne’s Catfish Haven, U.S. 43 in Russellville, 5:30-7:30 tonight and Tuesday at Wayne’s Catfish Haven 2, formerly Mama Holden’s, 10251 U.S. 72, Elgin.

Bottletree is the featured band at 9:30 p.m. Friday at FloBama, Music Hall and Restaurant, 311 N. Court Street, Florence.

Local musician Joseph Baldwin performs 7-9 tonight at Don Julio’s Mexican Restaurant, Tupelo, Miss.

Bands at Pegasus Records, 612 E. Tennessee St., Florence, beginning at 8:30 p.m. Friday include Rhyal Knight, The Valley Roots, The Head I Hold and Ashlyn Maine. Cover charge: $5, ages 21 and older.

An Elvis tribute with Bryan Muse and Band is Friday at DP’s Classic Grille, 410 N. Montgomery Ave., Sheffield. The Aaron Blades Band performs Saturday. Both shows are 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The Tennessee River Band hosts Musician’s Night at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

On Friday night, Mitch Mann plays at Sandbar of the Shoals, 4840 Hatch Blvd., Sheffield. The Velcro Pygmies and Southern Heat entertain on Saturday.

Featured bands at PJ’s, 701 Davison Ave., Muscle Shoals, will be Chris Smith and Neon Moon on Friday and The Jeff Quillen Band on Saturday.

Monkee and the Spank Daddies perform for a dance 7-11 p.m. Saturday at the Elks Lodge, 408 N. Nashville, Ave., Sheffield. Details: 256-335-6630.

“A Summer Salute: George Lindsey (1928-2012)” continues at 7 tonight when the free film series “The Screening Room: Classics, Crowd-Pleasers, Cult Favorites and Neglected Gems” shows “Goober Makes History” (1966) from “The Andy Griffith Show,” the “Temporary Duty” (1978) episode of “M.A.S.H” and “Blind Man’s Bluff” (1972) from “Gunsmoke.” Although admission is free, donations will be accepted for a scholarship in Lindsey’s name at the University of North Alabama. The Screening Room also celebrates the 50th anniversary of “Ride the High Country” (1962) with a showing at 2 p.m. Sunday. It will be preceded by a showing of “The Round-Up” (1956) from “Gunsmoke.” Both are directed by Sam Peckinpah. All screenings are held at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library, 350 N. Wood Ave., Florence.
