Beware of falling 300-pound pumpkin
By Jennifer Edwards

FLORENCE — Attendees of Florence First Fridays should be sure to look up during this Friday’s event. Organizers plan to drop a nearly 300 pound pumpkin at the intersection of Court Street and Mobile Plaza at 7 p.m.

The pumpkin will be lifted into the air by members of the Florence Fire Department.

A pumpkin decorating contest is also planned. Tastefully decorated pumpkins should be dropped off by 6 p.m. at the First Fridays committee tent near Unraveled on Court Street. Judging will be at 7 p.m.

All entries should have the entrant’s name and phone number with the pumpkin.

The Bear, Cicada Screamers and The Pollies will be performing on the music stage on Mobile Plaza.

First Fridays is 5-8 p.m. in downtown Florence.
