By Tom Smith

FLORENCE — A man injured Wednesday evening when the bicycle he was riding collided with a car, is in Huntsville Hospital recovering from his injures, officials said.

William Alexander King, 37, 1017 Kinnard St., Florence is in fair condition, according to Huntsville Hospital officials.

Police said King was injured in the accident that happened at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday on Sweetwater Street near the Colorado Street intersection.

Police reports indicate King was riding a bicycle and came down the hill on Colorado Street and didn’t stop at the stop sign riding into Sweetwater Street where he collided almost head-on with a 2005 Chevrolet.

The driver of the car was not injured, police said.

King was taken to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Huntsville Hospital officials said.

The accident is under investigation by Florence police.
