NASHVILLE — Country superstars Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw have won the CMA Award for “Musical Event of the Year.”
The award was one of two announced today on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” The awards show airs tonight at 7 on ABC.
Chesney and McGraw received the award for their performance of “Feel Like A Rock Star.”
Also nominated were The Civil Wars, a duo that includes Florence resident John Paul White. White and Nashville’s Joy Williams were nominated for “Safe & Sound,” a track from “The Hunger Games” soundtrack the duo recorded with country superstar Taylor Swift.
The Civil Wars are still in the running for “Vocal Group of the Year” and part-time Shoals resident Mac McAnally is once again in the running for “Musician of the Year.”
