Colbert Heights beats Hackleburg in OT

COLBERT HEIGHTS — Weathering a late Hackleburg comeback, Colbert Heights pulled away in overtime for a 60-55 win in girls high school basketball Thursday.

Destinee Pratt scored a team-high 12 points for the Wildcats (2-2) and sank one of her three 3-pointers in overtime. Colbert Heights also made seven free throws in the extra period.

Kristen Camp scored 8 of her 11 points during the fourth quarter, as Hackleburg (0-1) outscored Colbert Heights 20-10 to force overtime.

Rosalee Camp had 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Panthers, and Kaylyn Adams added 12 points.

Kelsey Robinette and Tabitha Wagnon scored 10 for the Wildcats.

n Central 65, Waterloo 36: Central (3-0) started on a 20-5 run in an easy win.

Brooke Poole (15) and Abby Keener (14) led the Wildcats in scoring.

Baylee Atkinson had a game-high 16 points for Waterloo (1-4).

n Red Bay 59, Winfield 45: Kasey Sparks overcame foul trouble to score a team-high 14 points for Red Bay (3-0).

Sparks picked up three fouls in the first quarter, sat until the third, when she picked up her fourth, and came back in the final 4 minutes of the game to help Red Bay hold on.

The Tigers led by as many as 15 but held a 43-40 advantage after three quarters.

Allie Glimer sank five 3s and scored a game-high 25 points for Winfield (2-2).

Darby Madden (13) and Allie Kennedy (10) also scored in double figures for Red Bay.

Boys varsity

n Central 53, Waterloo 49: Waterloo staged a late comeback bid, but Central, which led by as many as 11, got some key defensive stops and pulled away at the free-throw line.

Wayne Darby led all scorers with 21 for Waterloo (2-1). Tyler Whipple added 11 points.

Zach Williams and Cole Michael scored 12 each to lead Central (2-1).

n Colbert County 67, Russellville 64: Colbert County led 55-41 going into the fourth quarter and held off a late Russellville push.

Caleb Robison scored a game-high 20 points for the Golden Tigers (1-2), who outscored the Indians 23-12 in the final period.

Tobias Qualls’ 16 points led Colbert County (1-0), while Jonah Casteel added 14.

Jacob Seal and Wesley Benson scored 13 apiece for Russellville.

n Colbert Heights 50, Hackleburg 31: Kaleb Suggs and Jeffrey Mitchell each finished with a

double-double to lead Colbert Heights (2-2).

Suggs totaled 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Mitchell had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
