Collinwood was able to get to the free-throw line in the second half and the Trojans made the most of their opportunities in beating Loretto 39-35 in the Class A, district 12 girls tournament semifinals Thursday.
The Trojans made 16 of 20 at the line in the second half as they rallied past the Mustangs to advance to Monday’s championship game against Summertown.
Loretto led 6-2 after one period and 19-14 at
halftime. Collinwood came back to tie it at 24
after three periods. The Trojans took the lead
in the fourth quarter and Hannah Littrell’s two
free throws with 5 seconds remaining sealed the win.
Lexi Risner led Collinwood (21-5) with 12 points, followed by Littrell with 11 and Alexis Haddock with 10. Kayla Santiago scored 14 points to lead Loretto.
Class 2A Sub-regional
Tanner 64, Phil Campbell 33: Kelsey Houston scored a game-high 24 points as the Rattlers coasted past Phil Campbell.
Tanner (13-16) will face the Sulligent on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville.
Sydney Houston finished with eight points for the Rattlers.
Bethany Cook led Phil Campbell with 15.
