MUSCLE SHOALS — Police are looking for a man who robbed a convenience store clerk at knifepoint Thursday night.
Police said the robbery occurred just after 7:30 p.m. at Kangaroo Convenience store at Wilson Dam Road and Avalon Avenue.
“No one was hurt, which is the most important thing,” Muscle Shoals police detective Lt. Seig Mueller said.
He said according to the cashier, the man walked into the business, showed a knife, stepped up to the counter and laid a black plastic bag on the counter.
“And told her to put the money in it,” Mueller said. “She said she could see the blade of a pocketknife in his hand.”
Mueller said instead of putting the money in the bag, the cashier put the money on the counter and the robber put the money in the bag.
Mueller said the suspect is described as a white man in his 40s, with a mustache. Witnesses said he was unshaven and was wearing a light red hooded jacket.
“The cashier said he was about 6 foot tall and heavyset,” Mueller said.
“Once he had the money, he left and walked across Wilson Dam Road toward Muscle Shoals Trailer Park,” Mueller said.
Police believe the man had a car waiting in the trailer park or parked somewhere nearby.
Anyone knowing anything about the robbery is asked to call police at 256-383-6746 or Shoals Crime Stoppers at 256-386-8685.
