RUSSELLVILLE — City council members have approved a disaster assistance agreement for a community safe room

Russellville Mayor David Grissom said this morning the safe room will hold up to 96 people and will be near Washington Avenue and Military Road.

The cost of the project is nearly $80,000, with the city’s portion being $24.010. The remainder of the money will come from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

City officials said the city will have three storm shelters when the new one is installed. The city has applied for money to build two more.
