Counterfeit money passed in western Limestone
By Bayne Hughes
For the TimesDaily

ATHENS — Residents and businesses in west Limestone County near U.S. 72 and Alabama 99 should be aware that counterfeit money has been passed in area convenience stores.

Capt. Stanley McNatt of the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department said stores received several fake $1 bills and a $20 counterfeit bill.

McNatt said the $1 bills appear to have been printed with an inkjet printer. He suggested paying close attention to the $1 bills and marking any $20 bills received.

“The $1 bills just don’t feel right at all,” McNatt said.
