FLORENCE — The murder trial of Shawn Johnson continues this morning as the prosecution finishes its case and the defense begins calling witnesses.
Defense attorney’s Dustin McCowin and Jamy Poss expect to start calling witnesses before lunch today.
Johnson, 42, is charged with murder in the death of 22-year-old Keith Barnett.
Barnett was found unconscious on Alabama 17 near the Alabama-Tennessee state line July 29, 2000. He never regained consciousness and died Sept. 21, 2000.
Johnson and his brother, Shannon Ray Johnson, 43, were arrested in May 2011, 10 years after Barnett was found.
Shannon Johnson, pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
