Ex-boyfriend charged in attack

FLORENCE — The ex-boyfriend of a local woman is in jail after police said he kicked in the door to her apartment Sunday and attacked her.

Jose Antonio Mills, 23, 1112 Shirley Drive, Tuscumbia, is charged with first-degree burglary and domestic violence third-degree harassment, police said today.

Florence police detective Sgt. Cliff Billingsley said Mills was arrested Sunday morning at the residence in Hermitage Oaks Apartment, an apartment complex on Hermitage Drive.

Mills is accused of breaking into the apartment of a 20-year-old woman and attacking her. Police said Mills and the woman have children together.

He is in jail on bail of $52,500.
