FLORENCE — Police took a man into custody today in connection with a shooting that occurred outside a west Florence residence Saturday afternoon, officials said.
Florence police detective Drew Harless said Demarcus Montrel “Midget” Key, 33, whose last listed address is on Patterson Street in Florence, was taken into custody just before 11 a.m. in Sheffield. He was wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting that happened outside a residence at 902 Beale St, on Saturday, police said.
Harless said shrapnel from a bullet struck a 47-year-old Florence man, who was treated for minor injuries.
“From what we have been able to determine, this has been an ongoing feud between these two,” Harless said.
Reports indicate at least seven shots were fired.
“He never hit him, but he got close,” Harless said. “He shot all around him.”
No charges have been filed.
Anyone knowing anything about the incident is asked to call police at 256-768-2728 or Shoals Crime Stoppers at 256-386-8685.
