FLORENCE — A Florence woman and her boyfriend are in jail after being seen on video trying to buy diapers, shampoo and other hair products with credit cards police said were stolen from vehicles, authorities said.
Christina Lucille Love, 35, and Edward Gene Wallace Jr., 26, both of 520 S. Richards St., Florence, are charged with six counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, four counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, four counts of third-degree theft of property and one count each of first-degree theft of property and second-degree theft of property, police said.
Florence police detective Justin Wright said Love and Wallace were seen on surveillance video using stolen credit cards in an effort to make a purchase at Wal-Mart in Florence.
Wright said the credit cards were taken during a series of car burglaries that occurred during the early morning hours on Monday.
Wright said they are accused of breaking into six cars parked at Ivy Green Apartments, off Helton Drive behind The Court House Racquet Club.
“Following the car burglaries, they went to Wal-Mart 4 a.m. and then returned around 4:30 a.m. and used the stolen credit card to make purchases,” Wright said.
He said they also are accused of taking a musical instrument from one of the vehicles and trying to sell it at a local music store.
Love and Wallace are being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on $29,500 each.
