FLORENCE — Former CBS Morning News anchor Betty Nguyen will speak at the fall graduation ceremony at the University of North Alabama.

Graduation is 7 p.m., on Dec. 14, in Flowers Hall.

In addition to her anchoring duties, Nguyen is a regular contributor for CBS This Morning and the network’s other broadcasts and projects, according to a university news release.

Nguyen worked as an anchor for the weekend edition of CNN Newsroom, anchoring the network’s coverage of major news events, including 2010 earthquakes, Pope Benedict XVI’s U.S. visit in 2008 and the Virginia Tech shooting in 2007.

She is the co-founder of Help the Hungry, a not-for-profit organization that provides aid to poor families. She is a graduate of the University of Texas.
