Hackleburg 47, Vina 19

VINA — Five running backs scored touchdowns in the first half to power Hackleburg to a 47-19 win over Vina.

In all seven players had carries in the game, a combination that piled up 241 yards. Kristian Jones had 98 of those yards on eight carries. He scored twice.

Hackleburg (5-1, 4-0) scored on its first five offensive possessions and added a defensive score to during a 40-point first half.

Fullback Seth Moore’s 12-yard run run started the assault with 8:26 left in the first quarter. After Josh Jones recovered a bad snap on a punt in the end zone, the Panthers got a 16-yard run from Kristian Jones for a 20-0 lead after one quarter.

Hackleburg’s second-quarter touchdown runs were turned in by Dylan Gallaway (9 yards), Austin Adair (13 yards) and Matt Harper (16 yards).

The Red Devils had quick strikes in the quarter on Cody Renfrow’s 65-yard run and Andrew Hester’s 81-yard run, with 51 seconds remaining in the half.

Hackleburg’s only second-half score was turned in by Kristian Jones (3-yard run) as the Panthers went with reserves often.

Tyler Hammock scored Vina’s touchdown on a 15-yard run late in the game.

Hackleburg plays at Phillips next week.
