KILLEN — Longtime officer Bryan Hammond has been promoted to the Police Department’s chief, officials said.
Killen Mayor Tim Tubbs said the City Council decided to promote Hammond at Monday night’s council meeting.
The council also promoted officer Dennis Tate to sergeant.
Hammond has worked for the department for 17 years, the first two as a reserve officer.
He fills the position left vacant when the council did not reappoint former Police Chief Mark Parker at the Nov. 6 council’s organizational meeting.
