'Hold On' Rolling Stone's best song of 2012

Rolling Stone magazine has named “Hold On” by the Alabama Shakes as its number one song of 2012.

The track is on the band's debut album "Boys & Girls," which was release earlier this year and was named one of National Public Radio's top 50 albums of the year.

Based in Athens, the Alabama Shakes include Brittany Howard on vocals and guitar, Heath Fogg on guitar, Zac Cockrell on bass and Steven Johnson on drums.

The band has sold out venues across the country and overseas and opened for artists including Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Jack White and the Drive-By Truckers.

In September, the Alabama Shakes received the Americana Music Association’s award for Emerging Artist of the Year.
