Holiday campaign collects 2,400 toys

The Bank Independent and WAFF 48 Joy of Sharing Toy Drive Campaign collected more than 2,400 toys — surpassing last year’s donations by almost 1,000 toys — which were donated to local charities throughout north Alabama for Christmas.

In addition to the toys, almost $1,400 in gift cards and cash were donated and distributed as well. All of the toys and monetary donations provided a merrier Christmas to many local families and children this year.

“We could not have asked for a greater response to this year’s toy drive,” Bank Independent President Macke Mauldin said. “We can’t thank our customers, community and team members enough for their generosity and support.”
