FLORENCE - Homeland Security agents conducted a raid at a north Florence residence today, authorities said. Denise Ragland Roy, 1648 E. Lee Ave., has been arrested on drug-related charges, according to her daughter, Melanie Roy.
Details of the operation were not immediately released by authorities, but Melanie Roy said her mother is innocent.
Bryan Cox, a spokesman for Homeland Security's regional office in New Orleans, confirmed the agency was executing a federal search warrant in Florence. He said the operation was part of a federal investigation.
Denise Roy was taken in custody and escorted from the house just before 10 a.m.
“They’re trying to say drugs paid for everything we have,” Melanie Roy said. “There’s no way. It’s not true.” Homeland Security agents arrived at the house at 8 a.m., joined by Florence police. They have confiscated three vehicles and other items.
