SHEFFIELD — Helen Keller Hospital remains on lockdown today after a patient who notified hospital officials of a possible threat against her Sunday night remains in the hospital, officials said.
Julia Boughner, a hospital spokeswoman, said the facility has been under lockdown since 9 p.m. Sunday and continues to be today.
“We are very grateful to the community and to local law enforcement for their cooperation during this situation,” Boughner said.
She said no one has been injured and there has been no indication of any problem.
“But we will keep the security measures in place as long as the patient is in our hospital,” she said.
She said security officers are posted at every entrance and employees have to show identification badges to enter.
Also, visitors must enter through the emergency room and tell security what their business is and if they are visiting, who they are coming to visit and the room the patient is in.
Sheffield police are continuing routine patrols through the hospital parking lot.
