Humming of drones

President Obama was recently referring to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict when he said that “no country on earth would tolerate missiles raining down on its people.” But what about all the drone (unmanned aerial vehicle) strikes he has ordered on the peoples of Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia and the Philippines, in which hundreds of innocent people, including many little children, have been blown up?

What about the people who live with the constant horror of the humming of the drones flying overhead, never knowing if they will be next?

The U.S. Congress recently passed a bill allowing 30,000 drones to be in the U.S. airspace by 2020 to spy on American citizens and these drones can be equipped with all kinds of weaponry. This bill was a result of an extensive lobbying effort by Washington insiders and the defense industry.

If we Americans allow this to happen, we could be sentencing our children and grandchildren to a future in which they live with the constant horrors of the humming of the drones flying overhead. Wake up, Americans.
