Intersection of Alabama 20, Mitchell Blvd. may change
By Russ Corey
The TimesDaily

FLORENCE — Shoals residents are urged to inspect plans for a project that would put up a traffic light and take out the overpass at the intersection of Alabama 20 and Mitchell Boulevard.

The meeting is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Florence City Hall auditorium, 110 W. College St.

The project has been in the planning stages for several years and involves removing the overpass on Mitchell Boulevard and creating a signalized, at grade intersection.

Alabama Department of Transportation engineers will be available to answer questions. Maps of the project area will be available to inspection.

Allen Teague, Transportation Department preconstruction engineer, said there have been at least two previous public meetings on the project, but Tuesday’s meeting is necessary due to changes to environmental documents associated with the project.
