MONTGOMERY - State Sen. Tammy Irons of Florence will give the Democratic lawmakers’ response to Gov. Robert Bentley’s State of the State address tonight.
“I am proud to call Alabama home and I am proud to be an Alabama Democrat,” Irons said in a written statement. “I am also looking forward to a productive legislative session and hope to see both parties work together for the common good of Alabamians.”
The legislative session officially begins at noon today. Bentley’s address is at 6:30 p.m.
Irons’ response will be carried on Alabama Public Television following Bentley’s speech.
"With the many challenges facing our state, we cannot afford to continue the political grandstanding that has occurred over the last two years that takes priority over the common good of Alabamians,” Irons said. “The people want results. Democrats in the Legislature stand ready to reach across the aisle and come together to do just that."
