Jacksonville State hires Clark as football coach
By Gregg Dewalt
The TimesDaily

Jacksonville State has hired Bill Clark as its new head coach.

The Gamecocks selected South Alabama’s defensive coordinator over current North Alabama head coach Bobby Wallace.

Wallace’s name surfaced Monday nationally as the leading candidate for the vacancy, but this morning UNA Athletics Director Mark Linder received a call from Jacksonville State officials saying they were going in a different direction.

That direction proved to be Clark, a Jacksonville State alum and a native of nearby Anniston.

Clark replaces Jack Crowe, who was fired after 13 seasons with the Gamecocks, who play in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Wallace interviewed Friday with the Gamecocks.
