Jake Landers benefit show to be staged at the Ritz
By Robert Palmer

The country side of Muscle Shoals music will be featured Tuesday night in a benefit concert for bluegrass musician Jake Landers.

The show begins at 6 p.m. at the Ritz Theater in Sheffield. Tickets are $15.

Landers, a Shoals native and resident, has been a fixture in the bluegrass scene for decades, and may be best known for writing “Walk Softly On This Heart of Mine” with bluegrass legend Bill Monroe. The song was a hit for Monroe and for the Kentucky Headhunters.

Pre-show music begins at 6 p.m. with Mike McGuire of Shenandoah, Rusty Moody, Peanutt Montgomery and Doctors, Lawyers & Such. A wine bar and concessions will be available.

Iron Horse will take the stage at 7 p.m., and award-winning songwriters Walt Aldridge and Chris Tompkins take the stage at 7:30 p.m. At 8:30. The Steel Drivers will perform.

Money from the event will be used to help Landers with medical expenses.
