Lauderdale woman accused of having pot at Limestone jail booking

ATHENS — A Lauderdale County woman is facing an additional charge of promoting prison contraband after a Limestone County Jail officer found marijuana on her Thursday while booking her into the jail.

Capt. Stanley McNatt said Amanda Leigh Jones, 39, 79 Lauderdale County 332, had been arrested on a driving under the influence of a controlled substance charge when the officer found the pot in an inside pocket of her jacket.

In addition to the contraband and DUI charges, Jones has also been charged with possession of a controlled substance and improper lights.

Jones remains in jail. Her bail is set at $6,500.
