Suspect sought in vehicle thefts

RUSSELLVILLE — Police are searching for a Russellville man they want to question in connection with the theft of three vehicles during the weekend.

Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said a warrant was issued Monday for Dustin Blake Gaines, 29, 188 Cemetery St., Russellville.

“We had a rash of vehicle thefts over the weekend, where we had three cars taken,” Russellville police Sgt. Joe Hargett said. “Gaines has been developed as a suspect, and we need to question him.” Police said Gaines also has outstanding warrants for escape from a prior incident.

Gaines is a described as a white man, 5 foot 11 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He has sandy-colored hair.

  • Michael Dewayne Hutto, 36, 140 Youngblood Way, Killen; grand jury indictment on unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance.
  • Christopher J. Atkinson, 38, 1701 Fort Ave., Muscle Shoals; second-degree assault.
  • Roy Leonard Frazier, 46, Opelika; first-degree assault.
  • Demittus A. Howards, 19, 1001 McBride Ave., Muscle Shoals; failure to appear on charges of first-degree possession of marijuana.

  • Two gold chains, 10 pieces of sterling silver, a gold cross and other jewelry were taken from a residence in the 200 block of Augusta Drive.
  • Jewelry was taken from a residence in the 2000 block of Sherrod Avenue.
  • An electric heater was taken from a residence in the 900 block of Hermitage Drive.

  • A license plate was taken from a 2009 white Ford F-150 truck parked in the 500 block of South Court Street.

  • A laptop was taken from a residence in the 300 block of Pamplin Avenue.
  • A lawnmower was taken from a business in the 3600 block of Florence Boulevard.
  • A pair of jeans was taken from a business in the 300 block of Cox Creek Parkway.
  • A bra and air freshener were taken from a business in the 2000 block of Huntsville Road.
  • A diamond engagement ring, watch, nugget bracelet, wedding band, 9mm pistol and a ring were taken from a residence in the 1000 block of Bradshaw Drive.
  • Two pairs of jeans and four tops were taken from a business in the 300 block of Cox Creek Parkway.

Criminal mischief

  • A 1997 tan Cadillac Deville was damaged while parked in the 200 block of Hermitage Drive.
  • A residence was damaged in the 2000 block of Estaline Drive.

Breaking and entering

  • A CD/DVD player was taken from a 2000 white Ford Crown Victoria parked at Florence Middle School.
  • A chef’s knife set and satellite radio receiver were taken from a 2004 Jeep Wrangler parked in the 200 block of Cox Creek Parkway.
  • Two speakers and amplifiers were taken from a 2000 red Chevrolet Tahoe parked on Gilbert Court.
  • A GPS unit was taken from a 1997 white Ford F-150 truck parked in the 1200 block of Waterloo Road.
  • A CD player and diesel battery were taken from a Dodge Ram truck parked in the 100 block of Cox Creek Parkway.

  • A white gold diamond ring was taken from a residence on Frankfort Road, Tuscumbia.
  • A German shepherd, tractor disk and parts from two tractors were taken from a residence on Cook Lane, Tuscumbia.

  • A 2008 Honda four-wheeler and a 16-foot trailer were taken from a residence on Second Street, Leighton.
