Men charged in more burglaries

FLORENCE — Police said two men, already charged with three residential burglaries, have been charged in connection with two more that happened in November and December.

Jamarcus Tyree Nance, 21, and Xavier Lamont Armstead, 19, both of 210 Randolph Court, Florence, have been charged with two more counts of third-degree burglary and one count each of first-degree theft of property and third-degree theft of property, Florence police detective Brad Holmes said.

Holmes said they are accused of burglarizing a residence in the 1900 block of Chisholm Road and on Old Cloverdale Road. He said evidence was found at their residence to link them to the burglaries.

“We know there are some of the stolen property still out there, and we will prosecute people who are hiding stolen property for them,” Holmes said.

TOM SMITH

Man charged in vehicle burglary

A Trinity man who stole a stereo during a vehicle break-in gave himself away when he later tried to buy a part for the stereo, Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said Wednesday.

James Dillon Hill, 18, of 1269 Lawrence County 369, faces charges of second-degree theft, breaking and entering a vehicle, and second-degree criminal mischief.

Mitchell said investigators developed Hill as a suspect early, but it wasn’t until Hill tried to purchase a part for the stolen stereo system that they knew he was responsible for the auto burglary on County Road 574 in the East Lawrence community.

Investigators informed area car stereo and accessories stores of the break-in, and someone from one of the stores called investigators after Hill brought in the stolen stereo, Mitchell said.

Hill confessed to his involvement and was arrested, Mitchell said.

He was booked into the Lawrence County Jail and released after posting bail.
