FLORENCE — A local man was injured late Friday when witnesses said shots were fired into a group of people standing outside a West Mobile Street residence.
Police said the 20-year-old who lived on Locust Street was shot once in the hip and once in the leg.
The shooting occurred at 8:20 p.m. while the victim and at least nine other people were outside a residence in the 600 block of West Mobile Street.
The man was taken to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital where he was treated and later released, police said.
"They said they all were inside the house and then they went outside and was hanging out, acting silly," Florence police detective Drew Harless said. "The witnesses said while they were outside, 10 other people dressed in all black walked up the road and stopped on the corner of Cherokee Street and West Mobile Street and at least one starting shooting a gun."
Harless said according to witnesses, the shooter and the others in his group ran after the shots were fired.
"We're looking for anyone who may know something about this incident," Harless said.
