SHEFFIELD — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed a Sheffield business Monday night and a Florence business last week.
Sheffield police detective Chad Carruth said police believe the same person is responsible for the two robberies.
Carruth said a man wearing a green mask robbed Sheffield Tobacco and Deli at knife point about 6 p.m. Monday. No one was injured in the robbery.
Florence police said a man wearing a green mask robbed D&D Market at Lauderdale 14 and Alabama 20 on Jan. 25, also at knife point.
The clerks at the two businesses described the robber as a white man wearing a brown hooded jacket, blue jeans and white shoes.
Anyone knowing the identity of the suspect is asked to call 256-383-1771, 256-768-2728 or Shoals Crime Stoppers at 256-386-8685.

Jewelry, including a diamond anniversary ring, a diamond solitaire and a three-diamond ring, were taken from a residence in the 2000 block of Hixon Avenue.
Criminal mischief
An alarm system, hallway and side door were damaged at a residence in the 400 block of Cypress Mill Road.
A cluster of telephone lines were cut in the 400 block of East Mobile Street.
