Lawrence County (AL) man wounded during accidental shooting

A Lawrence County man was wounded in the leg during an accidental shooting at a home on County Line Road 317 shortly after 1 a.m. today.

Sheriff Gene Mitchell said the man’s family member accidentally dropped his shotgun, which caused the weapon to fire and wound the victim, whose name was not available today.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Decatur Morgan Hospital Decatur General Campus and later flown by MedFlight to Huntsville Hospital. Mitchell said surgery was performed to remove the bullet from the victim’s leg.
