Lawrence opening provisional ballots Tuesday

MOULTON — Lawrence County residents will likely know the District 2 school board winner on Tuesday at noon.

This is when Probate Judge Mike Praytor will open 52 provisional ballots that could impact a race that is separated by two votes.

It was not clear after last week’s election if any of the ballots were from District 2 where Republican challenger Norman Pool leads Democratic incumbent Gary Bradford 1,390 to 1,388.

Because the race is so close, Praytor said last week that state law requires him to conduct a recount that will take place at least 72 hours after results are canvassed Nov. 17.
