By Tom Smith
The TimesDaily

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. — A man accused of smoking marijuana around his girlfriend’s four small children remains in jail on bail of $61,000, officials said.

Police said David Michael Hicks, 28, First Street, Lawrenceburg, Tenn., is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and aggravated child abuse and neglect.

Reports indicate Hicks was arrested Friday after officers questioned him about a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the residence and he had a bag of marijuana on him.

During questioning, the girlfriend told police that Hicks frequently smoked marijuana around her children, who are 2, 4, 8 and 11 years old.

Hicks is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court Feb. 7.
