MUSCLE SHOALS — A Colbert County man has been charged in connection with three armed robberies, authorities said today.
Winford Cobb Jr., 41, Elm St., Littleville, is charged with three counts of first-degree robbery, Muscle Shoals police said. Cobb was taken into custody Sunday morning as a suspect in the three robberies.
Investigators said arrest warrants were issued today after they reviewed the case with the Colbert County District Attorney’s office.
Muscle Shoals police detective Craig Rickman said Cobb is accused of robbing Jack’s Restaurant on Woodward Avenue, Quick Stop convenience store on Alabama 20 and Sweet Pepper’s Deli Restaurant on Avalon Avenue. Jack’s and the convenience store were robbed Friday night, while Sweet Pepper’s was robbed Saturday.
Cobb was taken into custody Sunday morning after an off-duty Littleville police officer spotted the vehicle at a convenience store at Woodward Avenue and Second Street.
Investigators said Cobb is also a suspect in the armed robbery of Chuck E. Cheese in Sheffield that took place around 9 p.m. Saturday.
Police said Cobb has denied any involvement in the robberies.
He is being held in the Colbert County Jail on bail totaling $150,000.
