FLORENCE — A man and two children injured in a predawn house fire today in east Florence have been transferred to Birmingham hospitals, a relative said this afternoon.

Timothy Shane Green, 39, cut his hand severely when he broke out a window and was also burned as he helped the children escape the burning two-story house at 421 Enterprise St., the relative said.

The children were both injured.

Family members said 2-year-old Trinity sustained smoke inhalation, and her brother, 6-year-old Devin, suffered cuts and burns.

Green was treated for the cut hand at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence and was transferred to the burn center at University Hospital in Birmingham.

Their conditions were not available.

The fire was reported at 4:35 a.m.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
