Mars Hill boys cling to halftime lead

HANCEVILLE -- Mars Hill put on a clinic in the first quarter, but the second belonged to Winfield at the Northwest Regional basketball tournament this afternoon.

The Panthers took a 32-26 lead into halftime of their Class 3A boys regional semifinal.

Mars Hill scored the game's first 10 points, while Winfield missed its first 16 shots. The Panthers led by as much as 28-10 but Winfield roared back with a 14-3 run to get as close as five.

Tomas Swinea leads Mars Hill with 10 points. Ryan Spann's 10 points leads Winfield.
