TUSCUMBIA — Brian Lansing Martin took the witness stand in his murder trial in Colbert County Circuit Court on Thursday and testified about events that led up to the shooting death of his father, Donice “Boo Boo” Scott, on May 11, 2011.

Martin, 32, is a accused of shooting his father once with a .40-caliber Glock pistol at Scott’s 1011 E. Second St. residence after an argument about money.

Martin testified for about an hour before Circuit Judge Hal Hughston adjourned court for lunch.

Testimony is expected to resume at 1:30 p.m.

Earlier in the day, defense attorney Billy Underwood called five witnesses who testified Scott had a “bad” reputation for violence in the community.
