Mom dies six days after crash that killed daughter, cousin
By Tom Smith

SHEFFIELD - A Muscle Shoals woman injured in a two-car accident that killed her infant daughter and a cousin late Friday in Sheffield has died at UAB Hospital, officials said this morning.

Colbert County Coroner Carlton Utley said he was notified by UAB Hospital officials that Ashley Lanette Vaughn Hale, 26, 502 Glendale Ave., Muscle Shoals, died late Wednesday.

Hale had been in critical condition since being injured in the accident, which happened at South Jackson Highway and South Montgomery Avenue, police said.

Hale’s 7-month-old daughter, Mariah Hale, died Saturday morning at the Birmingham hospital.

They were both passengers in a car driven by Amanda Leann Hyatt, 32. Hyatt, who lived with the Hales. Hyatt died at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield shortly after the accident Friday night.

The two people in the other vehicle involved in the crash were treated and released from the hospital.
