MUSCLE SHOALS—The city’s school board will meet tonight at 5:30 p.m. at the central office auditorium to determine whether Jeff Wooten will continue as superintendent.
Wooten’s contract expires June 30. He is in his 11th year as superintendent.
Several residents and school employees attended a Feb. 18th meeting during which they expected the board to allow the contract to expire. However, the board postponed the decision until tonight’s called meeting.
Wooten has said wants to see current building projects, a new career technical center and athletic facility, come to fruition and see his daughter, an upcoming senior, graduate from Muscle Shoals High School.
Board president Pam Doyle, speaking on behalf of the board, said Wooten has not made those wishes known to the board in recent months as she has pressed him for input.
