MUSCLE SHOALS — The City Council passed a $19 million budget Monday that includes a 2.5 percent cost of living raise for all employees, officials said.
Mayor David Bradford said city revenues were up 3 percent this year, which enabled the council to grant the raises.
Bradford said the raises are slightly larger than last year’s 2 percent cost of living increase.
“Plus we were able to continue to provide the employees insurance, which is something we wanted to do,” Bradford said. “For a few years, we had to cut and cut and watch our money very closely. Thankfully, we’ve been able to maintain a good balance in the budget over the last couple of years.”
