The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting Dec. 5 to discuss completion of supplemental inspections at Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Calhoun Community College Aerospace Training Center, 6250 U.S. 31 North, in Tanner.
The supplemental inspections resulted from three problems at the Limestone County nuclear plant.
One of the inspections related to operators and staff not being adequately trained on new shutdown procedures. Two other inspections looked at Unit 1’s high-pressure injection system being out of service more than
expected, and unplanned shutdowns on Unit 3.
NRC officials said the focus of the meeting would be the three "white" findings, but they also would address a more serious "red" finding issued in 2011. The 2011 finding involved a defective valve that could have prevented a safe shut down in the event of fire.
