New hours to take effect at Courtland post office

The Courtland Post Office at 361 Alabama St. will have new hours starting Feb. 9. The window will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Customers will have access to their mail receptacles 24 hours a day, and post office box mail will be available by 10 a.m. Monday through Friday.

The U.S. Postal Service is moving forward with a plan to keep post offices open by realigning retail window hours based on customer use. Customer surveys were tabulated and results announced by postal officials at recent community meetings.
